Whether you’re an entrepreneur, going hard on your side hustle, or ambitiously climbing the corporate ladder, you’ve probably have many moments where you feel like you are on the hamster wheel of hustle–and it isn’t letting up!
Maybe every day feels like an uphill battle energetically. You’ve lost touch with your morning routine and go straight into action mode upon waking. You can’t help but be attached to your laptop and phone at all hours. Maybe you’re so busy that you don’t find time to exercise or even cook a solid meal for yourself!
When you want something badly enough, you’ll do whatever it takes to make it happen…but that doesn’t mean completely neglecting YOURSELF in the process! This is not sustainable, and something’s gotta give at some point.
As an entrepreneur, I’ve 1000% been there. When I first launched my business, I was working 14-18 hour days, forgetting to eat, and didn’t make it to the gym for three months straight. Although I was amped on pure passion for my purpose, I still exhausted myself physically, mentally and emotionally. I quickly realized I needed to be the future version of myself that already had achieved all that I was working toward. I needed to practice exactly what I preach!
Here are my steps to getting out of hustle and grind mode and into flow and alignment in life and business:
Get clear on what you want
One of the biggest things that is going to cause burnout is if you don’t have clarity on what you actually want. What is the vision of what you’re working toward? Without this, you’re working aimlessly–this inefficient and exhausting.
To help establish your vision, you also need to know why you want what you want: your intention. Your intention drives your passion. Your intention helps you to understand the feelings beneath your desires.
When you know exactly how you want to feel in your life, you start to realize that you can feel those things now, and you’re allowed to! That energy of always chasing, telling yourself you can’t feel a certain way until you achieve a certain something…it’s a lie you’ve been telling yourself for too long. When you get lost in the hustle, always go back to your intention for doing the thing in the first place. This is what keeps the fire alive!
Take an inventory of your mind and life
It’s time to clear out the clutter!
Where’s your head at? Is it constantly worrying about the future? Stuck in the past? One of the biggest ways to release stress and tension is to get present. When you are completely present in mind and body, you are safe in this moment, the world is not ending, things are good!
Take note of where your mind goes during the day. Old programming from childhood, limiting beliefs, fear, self-doubt are doing nothing for you but keeping you stagnant. You must re-program your brain by thinking new, positive thoughts. Each time something comes up that you catch, replace it with a new thought. Do this over and over and over until it becomes a habit.
Next, are you doing things that are bringing you joy? Or are you doing things because you feel obligated to please others before yourself? Once you start to get clear on what you want, and straighten out your mindset, all the things that are no longer serving you in your life become very obvious.
Release the projects, relationships, obligations, and stories that are holding you back from being the highest version of yourself. Begin to ask yourself in everything that you do, “How is this serving my highest good?”
Create your daily checklist
Staying grounded and feeling connected in your mind, body, and soul is key to feeling in flow. This can look different for everyone.
Over time, I’ve figured out my “non-negotiables,” the list of things that I absolutely need to integrate into my day or week in order to feel that connection with myself and not be a scattered mess. This includes things like: making breakfast every morning, having some time for silent reflection, moving my body, getting outside, going to the grocery, and consuming personal development content in some way.
From my non-negotiables, I’ve developed my version of morning and evening routines, but I change it up because I find that my energy lulls with too much repetition of the same thing. To circulate your energy, find the structure of a routine that works for you, but switch up the activities, meals, etc. I don’t eat the same thing for breakfast, sometimes I journal, other times I meditate, I can’t stand doing the same workouts, and I’m always getting in my personal development from a different place, depending on where my intuition guides me: podcasts, books, audiobooks, youtube, etc.
In order keep your energy elevated, you must circulate it. This is a great practice for listening to your intuition as well- you always know exactly what you need within. Focus on integrating the things you love daily, and don’t let your nervous system get to comfortable in mundane patterns. Keep things exciting, so you are always finding the novelty and joy in the little things in life!
Narrow your focus
You have big plans for this world, and you’ve achieved so much already. Looking at things on the macro-level can be overwhelming and lead to unnecessary stress. In reality, you never even need to know how you will achieve something; you just need to focus on being in the present moment and taking one step after another. Let The Universe handle the how. When you open yourself up to flow, you allow the messages from the divine to show you the way. You take inspired action from this place of receptivity and focus on the micro-level steps. Know that each small step will compound and create massive impact.
Open up to receive and surrender the outcome
Finally, getting out of that constant grind and into flow means loosening the grip you have trying to control every facet of your life. You need to get out of your own way!
Ask your soul to guide you, and open yourself up to receiving abundance in whatever ways it’s meant to come to you. Surrender the outcome in any situation. Trust that you are always on the right path, and you’re exactly where you need to be. Have faith that The Universe is bringing you the most optimal opportunities and situations at any given time, always working for your highest good. All is well.
