Hi there! I’m Sophie. I’m a Los-Angeles based health and wellness expert, superfood entrepreneur, co-host of the IGNTD podcast, yoga teacher AND mama to three beautiful children. I founded my superfood company and wellness brand, Philosophie, with the goal of making it easier, more inspiring, and more delicious to attain optimal health and radiant wellness. I preach intuition with everything I do: intuitive eating, intuitive movement, intuitive living.
Through my holistic approach to wellbeing, I have learned that total wellbeing begins with total nourishment, which is why I created my unique line of superfood blends and products.
When I’m not crafting revolutionary products from the world’s most potent superfoods, I’m sharing my insights on how to live a life full of unbounded energy, bliss, and freedom everywhere I can and savoring every moment with my three beautiful children and loving husband.
What time do you wake up in the morning and how do you wake up?
I’m lucky because no day is exactly the same so I don’t live by a hard and fast routine. Being a mama has its perks, I don’t need to rely on an alarm clock to wake me up! Whether it’s my toddler jumping into my bed, one of my boys coming to snuggle, or my husband with superfood coffee I often wake up to lots of love and most often before 7am but whether I get up out of bed right away is another story.
What’s on your bedside table?
On my nightstand, I’ve put objects and treasures that each serve a purpose and work to soothe me to ultimate relaxation and sleep.
Here are my other treasures on my nightstand —
Books: Mastery of Love, The Book of Awakening, Nurture (a much better alternative to late-night TV)
Crystals: Rose Quartz (a stone that promotes love + compassion) + Crystal Quartz
Himalayan Sea Salt Lamp: Besides being so beautiful, it generates negative ions which help to improve mood + energy levels
Flowers: simple answer, spring!
Chrysalis Water: I spritz it on my pillows, in the air in my room or on myself in the mornings for an instant refresh
Flower Essences: Scleranthus, which is good for indecisiveness and tapping into your higher self + knowing (which I’ve been having this pregnancy)
Do you prepare for your mornings the night before? If so, how?
I find bookmarking my days is extremely important to my self-care and wellness. I start and end each day with rituals for my own healing and nourishment. Every night I write a list of what needs to get done the next day and have an ongoing list that I update every night of what needs to get done that week. I unplug at least 2 hours before going to bed and enjoy a delicious and grounded adaptogenic latte or calming tea with Berry Bee Honey and write down 5 things from the day I’m grateful for, then some restorative yoga or breathwork and off to sleep.
What are your skincare/body care rituals?
A bath, 100%. A delicious bath soak at least once a week is a non-negotiable for me. Sometimes it looks like time to myself where I light some candles, turn off all the lights, use my favorite Chrysalis Detox Bath Soak, enjoy a cup of tea, and disconnect. I feel so restored after and truly have the best sleep. Other times, a bath includes my babies and I for a soak with lots of bubbles, laugh and joy! It’s a self-care practice that immediately allows me to drop me and restores my energy.
Chrysalis Water is my all-time favorite all-purpose everything and an absolute must-have for traveling. This refreshing mist—infused with witch hazel and essential oils—is the ultimate first aid for skin, space, linens, and more. I use as an air freshener, energy reset, natural toner, irritation soother, and hydrating hair reviver.
I LOVE to embrace DIY. I use natural and/or therapeutic items from around my home and incorporate them into my beauty routine. I’m stocked on Philosophie superfoods all the time and honestly, they make great skincare products. Mix Green Dream Superfood + Protein Blend with water for a face scrub. Use Green Bee Honey or Berry Bee Honey for an overnight mask.
What does your morning routine flow look like?
Mornings here typically start with a little one waking me up and hopping into bed. I give myself extra time before looking at my phone and jumping into work mode. On weekdays I wake up with my kids, make them breakfast and play with them which often looks like dance parties. I then send the boys off to school with “abba” (aka dad) and I get some solo time to journal, clean up from the morning, and set intentions and sacred space for the day. Some days I go to a workout, others I stay home and jump into Instagram and emails. Three days a week my assistant joins me and we work from my home, sprinkled with events, speaking on panels and Philosophie meetings.
When do you kick off your workday? And do you have any starting-work rituals?
Journaling. It’s incredible how when you put pen to paper, you discover so much about yourself. There are surprises, dreams and revelations. I think everyone should take five to ten minutes here and there to get to better know themselves! Also meeting up with Philosophie team!
A Philosophie Superfood Coffee immediately gets me going. So easy, I throw these ingredients into my blender:
1 cup high-quality coffee
1 cup homemade cashew mylk
1 tbsp Cacao Magic Superfood + Protein Blend
1 tbsp Coconut Magic Coconut Butter or almond butter
1 scoop collagen
Sweetener: organic honey or Green Bee Honey
How does your morning routine change on the weekends?
Weekends are much more mellow! I wake up slowly and have no phone right away. I make a nice breakfast with the kids, abba plays the guitar or music, and we hang around the house in PJs.
What does your mindset look like at the beginning of the day? Do you have any tips or tools for getting in a good mindset?
Set an intention. I’m a huge believer in setting intentions each morning with any sort of affirmation, angel or tarot card and recommend making this a daily ritual to pair with your cup of tea or coffee. By doing this, you’re telling yourself how you intend to feel, which will help guide you in your choices and actions throughout the day so you end up feeling exactly how you want to feel.
So often, people ask how I’m able to handle life as a conscious mama and run my own business, attend conferences, work as a social influencer, and practice healthy living—babes, it’s a lot! It ultimately comes down to remaining present. I embrace every moment as it comes. In total times of stress, I stop everything and S L O W down. I believe that feeling good (feeling nourished, healthy, vibrant, and self-empowered) is what fuels us to work to be better people—better mothers, wives, sisters, friends, and active contributors to our world.
What’s non-negotiable vs. what does an extra-luxurious morning look like?
A non-negotiable is prioritizing solo time whether it looks like breathwork and meditation or pulling a card and doing some journaling with my superfood coffee. I make sure to make time for me. These moments alone allow me to drop into the day ahead of me fully present and energized. Extra-luxurious mornings look like sleeping in and having no phone for hours and hours.
What would you like to improve with your mornings?
On weekdays I often feel pressured to immediately look at my phone. I do my best to leave my phone off my nightstand table so I’m not tempted to look at it first thing in the morning.
What’s your #1 recommendation to others who struggle with mornings?
Devote at least 10 minutes whether in the morning before the kids wake up or at the end of the day when they’re all asleep all to you. Drink a cup of soothing tea, read, journal or meditate. Check-in with yourself and your body. What do you need at this moment? Fuel yourself inside and out with yummy workouts + Philosophie superfoods, so you can live through it all effortlessly.
