When it comes to manifesting, visualization is an important technique to use to create the life of your dreams. Highly successful people, dating as far back as Aristotle, claim that visualization can transform your life for the better.
Visualization is basically daydreaming, but with a purpose. You are consciously thinking about what you want to call into your life.
Most of us already use visualization to create the life that we have. However, we aren’t fully conscious of what we are creating. And we tend to focus on what is going wrong in our life, instead of thinking about how we would like things to be.
How visualization works
Visualization works because the neurons in our brains interpret imagery as real-life action. They don’t know what is “real” or fake. When we visualize an action, our brain generates an impulse that tells our neurons to “perform” the movement.
This creates a new neural pathway and gets our body ready to act consistently with what we imagined. Elite athletes use visualization all the time as a tool to perform under pressure and achieve their goals
Research has also found that people who imagine themselves performing a task, improve their performance in that task without physically doing anything. In other words, when we visualize something, we’re showing our brain what we’re working towards.
Using the Law of Attraction, our subconscious mind will start to figure out how to get the thing we’re visualizing. As a result, you will start to see out in the world what you are manifesting in your life.
How to visualize to manifest the life you desire
Be Specific
Do you remember the part in Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll where Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree.
Alice asked, “Which road do I take?”
“Where do you want to go?” was his response.
“I don’t know,” Alice answered.
“Then it doesn’t matter,” said the cat.
The lesson is you need to know what you want out of life…and you have to be clear about it. Otherwise, life will continue to just happen to you – with no regard for what you actually want from it. There’s power in specificity! That’s why it’s so important that when you visualize your goals, you get super-specific.
For example: Instead of thinking “I want to make more money”, think about how much money you want to make and by when. When you do that, “I want to make more money” might turn into “I want to make $15,000 by May 31st.”
Meditate
Set aside a few minutes each day to “daydream.”
Be in a private space where you can close your eyes and start imagining that one of your goals has manifested.
If you’ve been wanting to travel, imagine yourself on that island, noticing the sound of the waves, feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin. Imagine feeling the joy and relaxation of being on your vacation.
Take daily actions
What is one thing you can do today to get you closer to the life of your dreams?
Taking daily actions creates new habits and you also start to create a foundation for your goal. Continuing with the theme of taking a vacation, maybe you start a savings account for it.
Digit is a free app that easily helps you save money without you even noticing. The next day you might start a Pinterest board with places you will visit. The following day, purchase a new swimsuit.
Whatever tasks you do, make sure you are also having fun. Don’t get too serious with it. Always bring joy to the activities.
Create a virtual vision board
Go to Pinterest or Instagram and start making a virtual vision board.
Pin that dream vacation, those affirmations that are going to remind you of your worth, screenshot your new home, and even your new boyfriend.
Get creative, have fun, and then put this vision board in a place where you will always see it. I have mine as the lock screen wallpaper on my phone so that my brain is constantly seeing the things I am manifesting. It’s the perfect daily reminder of what you are working toward.
Stay positive
Even if you are unhappy with where your life is right now, try to find the positive in what you currently have. When you focus on the abundance you have, it attracts even more abundance into your life. Plus, practicing gratitude helps to lift your mood – we all know that we definitely need more of that in our life. End your day in gratitude thinking about all the things you are grateful for, big and small.
When it comes to visualizing an abundant life, do what feels supportive and what resonates with you. Your thoughts and energy will influence how you manifest. Follow your intuition and let yourself create a bigger life.
